Setting up permissions
On Android, Mindful Lock needs a few permissions to lock your phone and block apps. The first time you open the app, it shows them to you one at a time.
The first-run setup asks for five permissions: Notifications (to show session and reminder alerts), Device admin (to lock your screen), Usage access (to see how long you use each app), Alarms (so schedules start and end on time), and permission to skip battery optimisation (so the phone does not put the app to sleep).
Blocking apps needs two more, Accessibility and Display Over Apps. The app asks for those the first time you use the Block tab. See "Turn on the Block Apps permissions" below.
Emergency Calling asks for access to your contacts and phone when you turn it on.
You can turn any of these off later in your phone's settings. If a feature needs one that's off, the app asks again.
- Open Mindful Lock. The permissions screen shows up the first time.
- Tap each permission and follow the on-screen prompt to allow it.
- Go back to Mindful Lock after each one, then do the next one.
