Turn on the Block Apps permissions (Android)
Blocking apps needs two permissions on top of the first-run setup. Mindful Lock asks for them the first time you open the Block tab. The video above shows how to turn both on.
Accessibility lets the app see which app you just opened, so it can show the block screen. It also looks for the name Mindful Lock on the screen, so it can stop you from closing or uninstalling the app during a session. Mindful Lock does not save or send what is on your screen.
Display Over Apps lets it draw the block screen on top of the app you opened.
Without both, app blocking, daily limits, and Block Apps schedules can't work.
- Open the Block tab. Mindful Lock asks for any permission that's missing.
- For Accessibility, scroll to Mindful Lock in the list of services, tap it, and turn it on. Then come back.
- For Display Over Apps, allow it and come back.
- Once both are on, you can start blocking.
Your phone can wait. The rest of your day can't.
